Shingles

We use only Owen’s Corning shingles which we feel are the best in the industry. With over 20 years experience using different products, we know who makes the best materials and will only use the best on your home. As an Owens Corning preferred contractor, we are able to offer a 50 year non-prorated material defect warranty on shingle roofs installed by us. You won’t find better coverage than what we can offer.

A shingled roof installed by Beeston Roofing exceeds manufacturer standards to give you the best warranty and protection. We start by removing your old roof. We will then inspect your roof deck, informing you of any repairs needed. Next, we clear your roof, clean your eavestrough and begin installation.

A shingled roof is so much more than just shingles. It’s layers of protection, each serving its own purpose and all designed to work together. So what goes into your roof installed by us?

1. Metal Drip Edge- We install this at the perimeter of your roof to keep water away from your fascia and prevent it from getting under your roof. Without this, water can get to your fascia, rotting both your fascia board and your roof deck.

2. Ice and Water Shield- Designed to protect the most vulnerable areas, and prevent leaks due to ice damming, Ice shield is an integral part of your roof. We install a minimum of two rows (6 feet) at your eaves. Most of our competitors only do one. We also install it in valleys, at walls, around chimneys and skylights and anywhere else we feel extra protection is needed. 

3. Synthetic Underlay- We install this underlayment to the remainder of your roof. This provides an extra layer of protection for your roof. Not everyone installs underlayments to the entire roof surface like we do.

4. Starter shingles- We install this product to the perimeter of your roof and in your valley. Many companies just use regular shingles for their starters, but this product is specially formulated with a special tar strip which gives you added wind protection.

5. Owen’s Corning Shingles and Cap- These are the best shingles on the market. We install our shingles with a high wind nailing pattern to give you the most out of your shingle. 

6. Venting- Improper or inadequate venting is the leading cause of premature shingle failure. It can also cause you other problems. We will go over your options with you and help you select the best product for your roof.

In addition to the above, we also install metal valleys, step flashing, plumbing boots and other accessories as required. Steel

Whether you want traditional steel, or something more extravagant like a steel shingle, Beeston Roofing has the know-how to get your job done right.

Traditional Steel

With traditional steel we are able to go over an existing shingled roof without the need to remove it. Going over shingles also eliminates the need for underlayment. Though this method is more cost efficient, it does not allow us to thoroughly inspect your roof deck so that is something to consider when making your decision.

If we do remove the shingles, we will fully prep your roof with underlayment as required by the manufacturer.  

From there we will install 1” x 4” strapping on 24” centres. This is to allow air flow and keep your steel cool. It is recommended in Havelock Metal’s installation guide but many roofers skip this step. We will also patch any existing vent holes as we are going to install ridge vent.

We then install a drip edge to the perimeter of your roof, followed by prepping the sheets by pre-drilling. This allows for easier installation and ensures that the screws are straight which looks better aesthetically. We then square up your first sheet and begin installation. 
Something we do that very few of our competitors do is install a foam closure at the eaves. This closure is shaped to the profile of your metal. Installing this prevents pests from getting underneath your steel, which is why we take the extra care to do this. No one wants to make a home for hornets. Once the sheets start going down, it won’t be long before your new metal roof is completed. 

After the sheets are layed, we will cut open the ridge of your roof on each side of the peak. This will be the venting for your roof. We then chalk lines for your cap, and install a vented closure on each side of the peak. This allows air to escape, but prevents pests from infiltrating your roof. We then install your ridge caps, end caps and your roof is completed. 

Steel Shingles

Havelock Metal offers a range of steel shingles. These can also be installed without removing your old roof, but we do not strap your roof for these products. They are installed with clips so there are no exposed fasteners. If you want a lifetime roof that is unique and beautiful, steel shingles are a good option. Your roof will be the envy of the neighborhood.
